If you are a Christian, then the Word of God should permeate your life. There are many Christians who feel like God is distant. I submit to you that God is not distant from anyone; no, people are distant from Him. Our LORD invites us into a relationship with Him. But to know God, you need to know what He says. The Bible, the Blessed Word of God, is His love letter to us. It records the events of God’s people, and it presents in no uncertain terms the Truth that Jesus is the Messiah.

Our LORD Jesus came to Earth willingly, wrapped Himself in human flesh, and walked amongst us. He was tempted, just as we are, but He was without sin. Because He lived a perfect life, He fulfilled the Law on our behalf. Then, Jesus went to the Cross as the perfect Lamb of God, and there He gave His life that we might be reconciled to the Father. On the third day, our LORD Jesus was raised to life, to not only prove Who He was as Messiah, but to guarantee us eternal life.

That, my Friends, is the Gospel through which we are saved. The Bible says that if you believe in Jesus, that He lived for you, that He died for you, and that He was raised from the dead, then you can live forever with Him.

How then do we come to know Jesus? We need to be rooted in the Word of God, for it tells His story, from Genesis to Revelation. The Bible exhorts us that we are to know the whole counsel of God. The Bible is the best commentary on the Bible. If there is a Bible passage that you find difficult to understand, search out other Bible passages that can help you understand the original passage. Of course, throughout the centuries, there have been many wonderful theologians who have studied the Bible extensively, and you could consult their writings, but the ultimate authority is the Bible. Theologians who are consistent with Scripture are the only ones whose works we should be reading. But, how do we know if anyone is being consistent with Scripture. The only way to do that is for us to know the Bible thoroughly ourselves. My best recommendation if you are seeking the Truth of God is to quiet your mind, ask the Holy Spirit to guide you, and then read the Word for yourself. Our LORD will open your mind to the Scriptures. He will be your guide through the Truth of God, and it will be the most liberating thing you ever do.
