People who don’t believe in God often say there is no evidence that He exists. They point to scientific discoveries that appear to indicate that the Earth and the Universe are billions of years old, rather than the thousands of years that the Bible appears to claim. There also appears to be no tangible evidence that God exists. As Christians, we believe in God because of faith. Now, faith should never be blind. If it is, then I wouldn’t call it faith; I would call it wishful thinking. The Bible points to the fact that the Holy Spirit, the third Person of the Trinity, came to believers at the day of Pentecost, just as our LORD Jesus promised. After Pentecost, the Holy Spirit has dwelled inside of every true Christian. It is He Who testifies to the believer that God exists. It seems like we have a bit of a catch-22 here. You cannot know God unless you first accept Him, and then the Holy Spirit takes up residence in you, and He then guides you into all Truth, which includes God’s existence. If you have never known true Christianity, or you have been harmed by supposed “Christians,” I can see the difficulty in believing anything we say. I once told a non-believing Friend that in order to believe in God, God Himself had to grant him the very faith he needed, and this Friend told me, that sounds like something a cult would say. For nonbelievers, this is what the Church seems like, a cult.

There is a sure fire way of getting saved, through the Gospel of Jesus Christ. If you want to learn about Jesus, read the Bible. Start with the Gospel of John. Pray that the Holy Spirit guide you as you read the Word of God. John wrote this Gospel to show why Christ came, so that through Him, we might have eternal life. John wrote in a very clear and poetic way about the coming of Christ. The Bible teaches that if we believe that Jesus lived for us, that He died for us as the Perfect Lamb of God, to reconcile us to the Father, and that He rose on the third day, to prove Who He was as Messiah and to guarantee us eternal life, then we will be saved. But how can you know this if you don’t read the Truth contained in the Scriptures?

As you read the Gospel of John, with the Holy Spirit of God as your guide, He will illuminate your heart. If your heart is hard toward the things of God because of bad things that have happened in your life, the Holy Spirit will soften you. God is not willing that anyone perish. He knows some will, but He wants you in Heaven with Him. Hell was not designed by God for people. It was designed for the enemy of our souls and his demons. Anyone who ends up in hell will go there of their own volition. Our loving Father God pursues us because He loves us. If you are reading this website, it was God Who led you here. And I’m willing to bet it’s not the first time He has tugged at your heart.
