In Isaiah 9:6-7, the Scriptures declare:

“For unto us a Child is born,
Unto us a Son is given;
And the government will be upon His shoulder.
And His name will be called
Wonderful, Counselor, Mighty God,
Everlasting Father, Prince of Peace.
Of the increase of His government and peace
There will be no end,
Upon the throne of David and over His kingdom,
To order it and establish it with judgment and justice
From that time forward, even forever.
The zeal of the LORD of hosts will perform this.” (NKJV)

This prophecy was written by the prophet Isaiah almost 600 years before our LORD Jesus came. The names of Christ in this passage reveal His character and what He was sent to do by God the Father.

The birth of Jesus is the Reason for the Season. Because of our capitalist society, Christmas has taken on a different meaning in our culture. Many people worry about the state of economy based on how good Christmas sales are. We give gifts to each other at this time because God the Father gave us the greatest Gift, His Blessed Son, Who provided Salvation for us, through His Life, Death, and Resurrection. As much as gift giving drives our economy, we always need to understand that our LORD needs to be remembered and honored in our celebrations.
