If you could make your pet understand one thing, what would it be?

Our dog, Torii, is a special one, but she’s not the sharpest knife in the set, as I often say. Torii is about 18 years old, so she’s an old lady. She has the sweetest disposition. I don’t think she has a mean bone in her body. In fact, I often say that if a burglar managed to get into our house while we weren’t here, Torii would probably show him where all of our good jewelry is, and then, she would lick him to death. We would literally find him on the ground, unconscious, with doggie slobber all over him.

But, if there is one thing that I would want Torii to understand is that we love her unconditionally. We are going to be very sad when Torii goes to doggie Heaven. We’re going to miss our little girl very much because not only have we loved her immensely, but she’s loved us back with a vengeance.

I once led a Bible Study at a board and care, and there was a very sweet, older lady named Doris who faithfully attended the Study every week. I would go around the table at the end of the Study, and I would always ask if anyone had prayer requests. Doris loved animals, and she always asked me to pray for them, and I would. I would always say in my prayer, Heavenly Father, animals are your creatures, too, so please watch over them. I will never forget Doris and how she taught me how to pray for the Animal Kingdom.
