What do you enjoy doing most in your leisure time?

Today’s prompt in WordPress was a fun one to consider. I thought of all the fun things I love to do: spending quality time with my Wife, playing games with my Family, cooking, watching our favorite TV programs and movies; really, the number of things I enjoy doing in my leisure time are almost endless. So, I had to think, what activity do I enjoy the most?

And the thing that came to mind that matters most is spending quality time with my Blessed LORD, reading His Word, communing with Him in prayer, and meditating on the Truth and the things of God. It’s funny (well, not funny ha ha; more like funny sad), but I used to struggle with setting aside time for God. Now, He is first on my mind when I wake up, and He is the last Person on my mind when I fall asleep. I now know what the Scriptures mean when they admonish us to pray always. This means that we are to commune with God all of the time.

Our ancient Parents, Adam and Eve, had the awesome privilege of walking and communing with God directly before they fell. The thing is, the Scriptures teach that our LORD Jesus reconciled us to God the Father through His Blessed Life, Atoning Death, and Resurrection, so we can now have the same relationship with our Heavenly Father that Adam and Eve had in the Garden of Eden before the Fall of Man. If that isn’t true, then why did Jesus pay the ultimate price by dying on the Cross for us?

All of us started our lives with our minds clouded by sin. As our Blessed LORD gave us saving faith, He removed the veil of sin that blinded us, and we now see Him and everything He taught clearly.

If you don’t yet have this freedom, or you don’t even understand what I’m saying, my prayer for you is that God will grant you salvation, which only He can do. The thing is, the means of salvation is the Glorious Gospel of our LORD Jesus Christ. Like I’ve said before in this blog, I could write here for the next century and not convince of your need for God. That is why I always point people to the Word of God, for it will save you, if you read it with an open heart and an open mind. Already, I know God is calling you, or you wouldn’t be reading this blog. My call is to point you to the Gospel with these words. I don’t have the power to save you, and I don’t want that power. But our LORD Jesus can save you through His Blessed Gospel. Amen.

And that is why I love spending time with my Blessed LORD in my leisure time, in my marriage, in my family time, in my work time, really, in all areas of my life. Our Savior grounds me in His reality, and it’s the perfect place for me to be.

Wonderfully expressed. Pretty much everything I have walked through: the feeling like it’s such work to fit God’s Words of life into my day. Something seems to have shifted in the world. I thought back in 2023 that it was a new phase He was starting with me. Turns out many are on a journey that seems to have sped up recently. Pointing us back to our amazing and compassionate savior and our Heavenly Father. For me very recently I started asking God to help me want to do the things that He wants me to do. To want to read the Word. To want to know Him and Jesus more. To use me to further His kingdom. Funny how when I’m re-reading the Bible now, with a renewed mind and attitude, it comes alive on the page!

Your post was very heartfelt and truly resonated! Thanks for sharing brother in Christ.

Thank you, Jeannine, for the kind words. I, too, have sensed the Holy Spirit moving in the World like never before in the last few years. About four years ago, my Wife and I began a time of nightly devotion in the Word and in prayer. We gave grown much closer to God and to each other as a result. As we have yielded to our Blessed LORD, He is speaking to our hearts about His Word and the things of God. Our relationship has grown much stronger, and our relationships with our Friends and Family have also been strengthened. I believe our LORD, the King, is coming soon, and we are very excited at the prospect of Him coming to make all things right.
