Are you superstitious?

I am definitely not superstitious. I’ve never been because it is not an effective way to live. The Scriptures teach that our LORD is sovereign in everything.
Many people tend to believe that the answer to their prayers should be in the affirmative. However, the Bible teaches that we are to pray according to God’s will, not our will. The best example of this is our LORD Jesus, Who when facing the horrors of the Cross, asked our Heavenly Father if there was any other way to accomplish His purposes, to let the cup of Christ’s sufferings pass from Him; yet, our LORD Jesus prayed that His Father’s will take place.
The LORD grants good and perfect gifts to those who pray according to His will. God answers prayer in three ways: yes, no, or wait. As Christians mature, they recognize God’s answers to their prayers.
James 5:16 says:
“Confess your trespasses to one another, and pray for one another, that you may be healed. The effective, fervent prayer of a righteous man avails much.” (New King James Version)
Many Christians quote the second part of that verse without mentioning the first part. The context of effective, fervent prayer is the confession of sin and the healing that results.
The Sovereign LORD’s desire is that His people repent of their sin and come humbly to Him with contrite hearts. Christians need to submit to God, in order to be in His will.
When people walk in God’s will, the Holy Spirit will guide them in how to pray.
Jesus said in in John 15:7-8:
“If you abide in Me, and My words abide in you, you will ask what you desire, and it shall be done for you. By this My Father is glorified, that you bear much fruit; so you will be My disciples.” (NKJV)
Much like Jesus glorifies God, when He answers the prayers of His people, it is for His glory. Notice in this verse, also, that when the Father is glorified, we will be very fruitful in our walk with God.
In conclusion, our prayers should align with God’s will for our lives, and we need to glorify Him with what we ask.
