My name is Manny Vazquez, and I am a Christian Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist. I have been practicing psychotherapy since 2002. My counseling experiences have been wide and varied, from working in various community mental health agencies from 2002 to 2020 to being in private practice since 2019. I have been a Clinical Supervisor and a Program Director, mentoring many therapist interns in the process.
My Christian faith is the most important aspect of my life. As a Christian, I understand that the Holy Spirit testifies to me and all Christians about the existence and the nature of God. He guides us into all Truth, as the Bible teaches. I see my vocation as a Christian counselor as an honor and a privilege. I have read the entire Bible several times, and my goal is to know the Word correctly and intuitively. If I am to practice therapy Biblically, then I must know the whole counsel of God.
My goal in therapy is to come alongside my Clients and help them achieve better mental health and better relational health. I firmly believe that the Holy Bible, the Word of God, is the blueprint for life, so it can help us achieve optimal health.
2 Timothy 3:16-17 says, “All Scripture is given by inspiration of God, and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness, that the man of God may be complete, thoroughly equipped for every good work.”
I chose this Bible verse to be the life verse for my private practice when I first opened my doors, back in 2011 when I was first briefly in private practice. I provide Biblically based counseling. I don’t shy away from talking about the things of God because I have found them to be very helpful in all life situations.
Having said all of this, however, in no way means that I will turn you away from my practice if you don’t believe as I do. My Friends, you may believe what you want. I will not judge you ever for what you choose to believe. My LORD loves you, no matter what; and He invites you to know Him; He will never force you to follow Him. As a counselor, I invite you to reason together with me. I will gladly discuss your faith with you. I know my faith influences my mental health, I would love to learn about your faith journey, and what role your faith practices have on your mental health and overall wellbeing.
If you find that you are struggling in life, I encourage you to seek help, if not from me, then from another professional counselor. I am available if you would like to consult about your need for therapy. I can be reached at (626) 483-9319. I offer a free phone consultation to see if I am a good fit for your counseling needs and for your schedule. I practice in Upland, CA, USA, where I have had my office since December of 2019.
May the LORD of the Universe bless you and keep you, and may He provide you with good spiritual health and with good mental health for you and all of your loved ones. Amen.
